What we do
About our project
Background information
A child’s fever is the most frequent reason for parents to seek medical attention. This holds particularly true for children under the age of 5 years, in whom the fever is mostly self-limiting. To reduce the number of ‘unnecessary’ consultations, but also to prevent missing a seriously ill child, parents should be well informed about managing their febrile child at home. Effective information meets parent’s needs and takes away their worries.
Overall aim
To optimize information for parents on serious childhood illness and to improve parents’ ability to recognize alarming signs for serious illness in their child.
Research method
We have developed a website with information on symptoms and signs that should alert parents to serious illness in their children (www.sehzorg.nl). The information provision is further being developed and of the use and the effect of this information is being evaluated.
