Current visitation and appointment guidelines

Erasmus MC Sophia has lifted many of the covid measures. It is no longer mandatory to wear a mouth mask in public areas. In the consulting room, care staff will wear an II-R mask if they are within 1.5 meters of the patient. Read more on the easing of our covid measures. 

Making an appointment

For your first appointment at an Erasmus MC Sophia outpatient clinic, your child will need a referral. We receive this referral through the treating doctor or your general practitioner. We will inform you about your child's appointment by e-mail. We will send you a reminder by text message three days before the scheduled appointment. You will find the appointment letter and additional information about the appointment in the patient portal My Erasmus MC. You can log into My Erasmus MC with your child's personal DigiD.

Important: Your child needs his or her own DigiD. Does your child not have a DigiD yet? Then you can apply for one via the DigiD website.

Is this your first visit to our hospital? Please ask your health insurance company what the relevant requirements are for reimbursement. 

Changing or cancelling an appointment

Would you like to change or cancel your appointment? Call the outpatient clinic where you have the appointment (or fill in the online cancellation form (in Dutch)). The telephone numbers of the outpatient clinics can be found at the bottom of this page. To provide you with the best possible service, we ask you to listen to the entire menu before you dial a menu number when you call us.

The following information is important if you wish to change your appointment:

• Your child's name and date of birth.
• Patient number.
• The date and time of the appointment.
• The medical specialty (for example, pediatric surgery) or specialist with whom the appointment was made.

We might not be able to reschedule your appointment immediately. We schedule our appointments up to three months in advance. It is therefore possible that we will put you on a call list. As soon as we schedule new appointments, we will contact you.

Please note: if you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours in advance, a fee may be charged.
