About our Department

Our research

Background information

We specialize in reconstructive surgery following oncological diseases, congenital disorders and acquired conditions of the upper extremity, skull and face that impair shape and function.

Overall aim

Together with the affected child, the family and other caregivers, we decide on the best approach to improve body shape and function and achieve the best quality of life that is feasible. Through research we aim to improve our care and to enable effective counseling of the patient and family on what to expect.

Research focus areas

Our research is mainly clinically oriented and the findings help us to improve our surgical treatments and results. This also involves developing, introducing and evaluating new surgical techniques and more basic research.
