Introduction
Within my PhD at KU Leuven, I worked on subject-specific biomechanical modelling of movement, specifically calculating loading of the hip joint. As a postdoc at KU Leuven, I also focussed on multiscale and finite element modelling of the hip and knee. During my postdoc at TU Delft I worked on subject-specific multiscale modelling in knee osteoarthritis, for which I already strongly collaborated with Erasmus MC.
Currently I continue to work on subject-specific biomechanical models in knee osteoarthritis. Specifically, I work on a project evaluating a wearable device, the WalkWell Gait reTrainer, for personalized gait retraining to improve daily life for knee osteoarthritis patients.

Education and career
In 2010 I finished my MSc in Human movement sciences at VU Amsterdam. After that I started my PhD at KU Leuven, focussing on subject-specific biomechanical modelling of the hip joint. Within my PhD I developed a workflow for subject-specific medical-imaging based modelling of movement and gained insights in the biomechanics and loading of the hip joint. As a postdoc at KU Leuven, I also focussed on multiscale and finite element modelling of the hip and knee. I worked two years in indurstry at Materialise, applying modelling techniques within the medical products, specifically focusing on pre-operative planning for the knee. I returned to accademia at TU Delft, where I worked on subject-specific multiscale modelling in knee osteoarthritis, for which I already strongly collaborated with Erasmus MC.
