About A.M. (Anand) Iyer, PhD
Introduction
Anand Iyer obtained his Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Amsterdam. Subsequently, he carried out his postdoctoral research on neuroinflammation in epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases under the supervision of Prof. E. Aronica at the Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam. Presently, he is a postdoc working with the Neuroendocrinology group at the Dept. of Internal Medicine, Erasmus MC under supervision of Prof. L.J. Hofland.
Field(s) of expertise
Research Interest: His main research interest is G- protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signalling in neuroendocrine tumours (NET). His research focusses on the medical treatment of NET with particular emphasis on the roles of somatostatin and dopamine receptors. Additionally, he also works with Prof. L. van Rossum to study glucocorticoid sensitivity in obesity using various bioassays. His research uses cell biology and molecular biology techniques including genomic, proteomic and bioinformatic approaches.
