Digital identity
DigiD is your personal digital identity. It allows you to identify yourself on the internet, so that you can use websites operated by the Dutch government and Dutch healthcare organisations. The idea is that we (as a Dutch healthcare organisation) can be absolutely sure that it is you and no one else logging-in to our website.
Your DigiD consists of a user name and a password or pin code. The password or pin code is something you choose for yourself. You may already be familiar with DigiD from your dealings with the Dutch tax authorities (Belastingdienst). If you haven’t got a DigiD log-in yet, you can apply for one on www.digid.nl/en You can then visit our patient portal (My Erasmus MC) either by logging-in with your DigiD code (with SMS authentication) or by using the special DigiD app.
DigiD log-in with password and SMS authentication
In order to log-in to My Erasmus MC, you will be asked for your DigiD log-in plus SMS authentication. If you already have a DigiD but have not yet arranged to use SMS authentication, you can do so by visiting www.digid.nl/eng. Obviously, you need a mobile phone in order to make use of the SMS authentication service. However, logging-in to My Erasmus MC does not mean that we need to know your mobile phone number.
DigiD log-in with the DigiD app with pin code
You can also log-in using the DigiD app on your computer or any other device on which the app is installed. Please note that you first need to activate the DigiD app before you can log-in. Visit the DigiD website to read how you can use the app to log-in on your computer, mobile phone or tablet.
Gaining access
You should fill in your DigiD user name and password, plus the code sent to you in the form of an SMS text message, on the log-in page of DigiD/Erasmus MC. If you’re using the DigiD app, all you need to do is to enter your user name and pin code. Once you’ve logged-in, you will be directed to the My Erasmus MC patient portal.
What if it doesn’t work?
If it doesn’t work for some reason and you can’t log-in using your DigiD, please go to the DigiD website and contact the DigiD help desk.
