Funding

Collaborate with the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) to master the funding process and maximize your financial support.

The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of Erasmus MC, in collaboration with Erasmus MC Holding, supports initiatives (including future spin-off companies) by finding appropriate funding for the various stages of innovation development. Through advice and our network, we provide access to diverse funding opportunities to successfully bring technologies to market.

Below you can read about some of our most relevant past and current funding partners. This list is non-exhaustive, as TTO has a large network of funding institutions and capital investors for research and business.

UNIIQ

UNIIQ is a publicly funded Proof-of-Concept (PoC) fund that provides early-stage financing to technology-driven start-ups and university spin-offs in the South Holland province of the Netherlands. The fund offers convertible loans to companies in the TRL 3-5 phase, where private investors are often hesitant to invest due to the risks and costs. UNIIQ is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (Europees Fonds voor Regionale Ontwikkeling; EFRO) and the Early Stage Financing (Vroegefasefinanciering; VFF) program of RVO.

The fund is a collaboration between:

Graduate Entrepreneur Fund (GEF)

The Graduate Entrepreneur Fund (GEF) provides early-stage capital to entrepreneurs affiliated with Erasmus MC, Erasmus University Rotterdam, or Technical University Delft. The fund targets students, recent graduates, and researchers who want to turn innovative ideas into successful companies. GEF not only provides funding but also offers access to a network of experienced entrepreneurs and investors who guide young companies in their growth.

Thematical Technology Transfer (TTT)

The Thematic Technology Transfer (TTT) program provides funding and expertise for the development and commercialization of innovative technologies within specific themes. These thematic areas include TTT Medtech for medical technologies, Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA) for cardiovascular innovations, and RegMed XB for regenerative medicine. TTT promotes collaboration between knowledge institutions, investors, and entrepreneurs to bring technologies to market faster with financial support and expert guidance.

Swanbridge Capital

Swanbridge Capital was a seed investment fund that provided capital to promising startups in the therapy, diagnostics, and medical devices sectors. The fund focused on companies in an early development stage that still needed to generate Proof-of-Concept (PoC) for their technology. Swanbridge was based in Rotterdam and has since been fully depleted, but it played a significant role in the growth of young medical companies.
