The role of a neuropsychologist is to link neurological en neurocognitive processes to daily life. I like to contribute to translating fundamental research and neurologic and neuropsychological processes into meaningful tasks and activities. The greatest challenge is to integrate research and clinical work in such a way that the study results are meaningful to science and to the patients and their families.

Starting my working career as an occupational therapist, I have been a neuropsychologist since 1997. I started with clinical work, but half of the time is now dedicated to research. I obtained my PhD degree on ‘Behavioral phenotyping Neurofibromatosis type 1’. The research work is in collaboration with the departments of child and adolescent psychiatry, surgery, dermatology, neurology, and neuroscience. I have specialized in selecting outcome measures for trials, and in follow-up of children with neurocognitive disorders. My qualitative and quantitative research is mostly performed with children and parents, but also with adolescents and adults.
