What we do
About our project
Background information
Microglia are involved in nearly all brain diseases, but it is unknown in what situation they protect against disease or rather promote disease.
Overall aim
We aim to gain insight in the basic mechanisms and control of the microglia in the healthy brain and in the diseased brain.
Research method
We use in vivo imaging, genome editing and RNA sequencing in zebrafish models to find new disease mechanisms.
Desirable outcome
By understanding the roles of microglia, we will learn which of their actions to block or promote in disease.
