About M.A.M. (Maxime) van der Velden
Introduction
Maxime van der Velden followed the bachelor and master Nutrition and Health at the University of Wageningen and graduated in March 2022. For her Master’s she did research at Rijnstate Hospital in Arnhem to study the changes in gut hormones after bariatric surgery in obese adults. Furthermore, she investigated the nutritional composition of human breast milk during her internship at Nutricia Danone in Utrecht. In June 2022, she started as a junior researcher at Erasmus MC Rotterdam.
Currently she works on the KOMIS study. The aim of this study is to develop and optimize a Minimal Intervention Strategy (MIS) in general practice for the detection and treatment of overweight in children, which can be applied especially in deprived areas where obesity is a greater problem. Additionally, a regional map will be compiled with available lifestyle interventions in Rotterdam to which children can be referred and the implementation of the MIS in four large general practices in Rotterdam will be evaluated.
