About M.R. (Melanie) Rissmann
Introduction
Melanie Rissmann (1988) obtained her PhD 2017 at the Friedrich Loeffler Institut, Germany, where she worked on the ecology and prevention of Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV).
Her subsequent work focused on reservoir hosts and maintenance of RVFV in endemic areas. With the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, she applied gained tools and knowledge for initial characterization of SARS-CoV-2.
She is currently focusing on the comparative pathogenesis of coronaviruses in humans and their spread, evolution and transmission in intermediate hosts.
