About M.J. (Max) Rensink
Introduction
I studied medicine at the Amsterdam University Medical Centres (location AMC), where I obtained my Master’s degree in 2020. In 2021 I completed my Master’s in philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, during which I focused on social and political philosophy.
After my studies I worked as a medical doctor at the Internal Medicine department of the Flevoziekenhuis in Almere. I am very pleased to now be able to combine my two interests in my current project. In October 2022 I started my PhD research, which focuses on the ethics of predictive genetic testing in hereditary neurodegenerative diseases.

I will be teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programme of medicine.
Current research projects
Technological developments in medicine from a humanities perspective. The ethical implications of engineering improved patient-specific iPSC-derived models for predictive diagnostics in neurodegenerative disease. Ethics workpackage of the research project NWA/ORC CureQ: Predict, Delay & Cure polyglutamine(Q) caused neurodegeneration, 2022-2026 (PI dr. Ineke Bolt).
