About dr.ir. R.A.J. (Richard) Post
Introduction
I am an assistant professor in biostatistics at the department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
My research line focuses on developing statistical theory for causal inference. I have a particular interest in effect heterogeneity and survival analysis. I completed my BSc and MSc in mathematics at Eindhoven University of Technology, where I also earned my PhD in statistics in 2023.
I am an experienced teacher in statistics and gained experience in interdisciplinary research by working with biochemists, geophysicists, epidemiologists, and medical doctors.
Field(s) of expertise
The distribution of individual causal effects is not identifiable due to the fundamental problem of causal inference. I work on identifiability assumptions and characterize the difference between (conditional) average effects and individual effects.
Causal survival analysis:
Many epidemiological studies focus on time-to-event outcomes. Traditional measures of effect are based on the hazard rate and have a complicated causal interpretation. Formalizing this interpretation is crucial for accurate causal inference.
Causal inference applications:
I am involved in several collaborations with medical doctors and epidemiologists to apply causal inference methods in practice.
