About D. (Dide) de Jongh
Introduction
Dide completed the master Vitality and Aging in Leiden (2020). Before that, she completed the bachelor Gezondheid en leven at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam with a clinical major (2018). She did her minor at the University of Leeds (2017).
Dide did her bachelor scientific internship at the Neonatology department of Amsterdam UMC, location VU. At this department she got the opportunity to write and co-publish multiple scientific articles. She did her master scientific internship at the Geriatric and Oncology department of Leiden University Medical Center.

Current research projects
The VANGUARD project, which is funded by the European commission, aims to engineer bio-artificial pancreases to cure Type 1 Diabetes.
The goal of Dide’s PhD project is to identify, investigate and discuss ethical, psychological and social issues involved in conducting clinical trials and the clinical implementation of bio-artificial organs in general to ensure responsible innovation and clinical development for the treatment for patients with Type 1 Diabetes.
