Education and career
I obtained my master’s degree in Human Movement Sciences in 2009 at the VU University in Amsterdam. During my master, I won the Gerrit Jan van Ingen Schenau promising young scientist award, which gave me the opportunity to perform my research internship abroad at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
After graduating, I started to work as junior researcher and research coordinator at Capri Cardiac Rehabilitation, collaborating with Erasmus MC. In 2011, I designed the OPTICARE RCT (focusing on behavioural lifestyle interventions in cardiac rehabilitation,) together with colleagues in the same collaboration, and was able to combine my work as research coordinator at Capri Cardiac Rehabilitation with my PhD training in Erasmus MC.
After obtaining my PhD degree in 2018, I continued my scientific career as a senior researcher working in a collaboration between Erasmus MC and Capri Cardiac Rehabilitation with a focus on lifestyle interventions in cardiac rehabilitation. In 2021, I was promoted to assistant professor and became a member of the scientific staff of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.
