About A.P.C. (Jana) Hermans, PhD Student
Introduction
I am a PhD student at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychology. My doctoral research focuses on how to better understand the influence of prenatal maternal depression on children’s long-term neurodevelopment, behaviour and mental health. My research background is in neuroimaging research into psychiatric illnesses, specifically mood and psychotic disorders. My past research experience I obtained at Department of Psychiatry the UMC Utrecht and abroad at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge.
Field(s) of expertise
My research focuses on how to better understand the influence of prenatal maternal depression on children’s brain development, behaviour and mental health. My PhD research is part of the European collaboration HappyMums.
Education and career
I obtained a BSc in Liberal Arts & Sciences and a MSc in Neuroscience & Cognition. The main focus of my PhD research is prenatal maternal depression and child brain and behavioural outcomes.
