About C. (Cevdet) Acarsoy

Introduction

Current Research

Despite being one of the most common disorders encountered by doctors and its considerable burden on the healthcare systems, migraine remains a mystery. Currently, I am working with Prof. Kamran Ikram and Dr. Daniel Bos on unravelling the causes and consequences of migraine in the general population. The risk factors regarding lifestyle, psychology, inflammatory biomarkers and neuroimaging are relatively unexplored. Similarly, the clinical consequences of migraine such as stroke and dementia remain elusive.

Previous Work

I studied psychology in Turkey (2016, graduating with high honours) before completing a master’s in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University (2018, cum laude).
I wrote my thesis on Mind Wandering in relation to EEG Theta/Beta Ratio and Attentional Control.
Between 2018-2020, I worked in several developmental neuroscience projects at the Brain and Development Research Center.
As the main fMRI scan-licence holder of the lab, I was responsible for neuroimaging part of various longitudinal projects supervised by Prof. Eveline Crone and Prof. Berna Güroğlu.
I also taught workgroups for various psychology courses in the BSc programme at Leiden University.
